Ha, dankjewel Simone! Optreden niet. Ik loop heel vaak te zingen (in huis en soms per ongeluk op mijn werk). Heel soms begeleid ik mezelf op de Ukelele, maar daar ben ik niet meer zo actief in... 😊
What a great story, Hilda! I love it that you did the performance in the end, so brave!
It's amazing what we - highly sensitives, introverts, perfectionists - can do, even if we feel that it might be way out of our comfort zone. But their is a constant nudge of a dream, and one day we go for it. So cool!
Being on a stage, singing or reading our texts in front of people is not something you would expect people like us to do, but it can be so amazing, such a ride, although we afterwards might not know how we did it. It's so exciting and boosts our self-confidence, right?
I never liked speaking in front of groups, not even at school or university, certainly not in front of strangers! But I ended up working as a city guide for many years, offering historical tours to tourists, school classes and very different groups in my home town. And I loved it! Sitting on a stage, doing readings from my books wasn't that scary after that, I could just read from the book and didn't have to tell everything from memory like on the city tours. 😅 I never thought I would enjoy speaking in front of 50 or 100 people so much! (It's even more special for me knowing that I suffered from social anxiety for many years. Well, not any more. 😊)
Thank you Claudia! And yes, also your public speaking as a city guide and reading from your books is so brave! Reading your story reminds me of the book Sorry I'm late, I didn't want to come by Jessica Pan. Subtitle: an introvert's year of living dangerously. She writes about herself trying all sort of scary things for an introvert. I really wanted to hide myself in a dark corner of the room but it's also really hilarious! Thank you for reading and sharing your brave story, I really appreciate that 💕
Thank you Hilda, also for mentioning the book. I’ve been meaning to read it a while ago and than somehow forgot about it. I’ll definitely put it on my list again! :)
I love that you ended up performing that song semi-spontaneously, Hilda, very brave! I've been writing poetry since 2020. At first sharing it slightly timidly on my small social media accounts, and then in 2022 I spontaneously signed up to do a poetry reading at a local summer festival. I had many thoughts of withdrawing, and in the end even though I did it, only 6 people came, and 5 of them were friends of mine. But I did it. And I had no idea where it would lead. By now I've published one book of poetry and am over half way with another, had a reading to a full house (small house) for my book launch and was interviewed in two local papers and on live radio. It has been quite a journey, and none of it would have happened if I hadn't dared take that first leap.
Oh wow Sarah! I also write poetry and would love to publish a book (poetry or non-fiction). And yes, you're absolutely right about none of it would happened if you hadn't dared take that first leap. Wow, again! 🙏🏼

My secret dream is to sing too but I have horrendous stage fright and no talent. 😂 I’m very much in awe of you for doing it!
That's so sweet of you Victoria🙏 I don't know if I have any talent and I even don't know what I was thinking... 😅

Impressive - to perform in front of others. 🎉Learning can open interesting doors. 🎤 I feel humbled to have my post mentioned. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you Terje! And you're so welcome, I thought your post suited mine so lovely 💕
